About High Voltage Cards:

High Voltage Cards is the creation of Walter and Bridget High, a husband and wife team that actually enjoys working together. (We know, go figure, huh?) That's us in the self-portraits to the right. Walter's the one with the camera, Bridget's the muse.

In forming High Voltage Cards, we are bringing to market a collection of artistic imagery that has taken over 30 years to build.

The greeting cards in our collection are our own creation. They have been painstakingly selected, designed, written, and produced from a portfolio of tens of thousands of photographs and photography-based digital images Walter has taken and created over a span of more than three decades. High Voltage Cards is the exclusive distributor of these images, and the only place our greeting cards can be purchased is through this website.

About Walter High's Photography:

Walter High sees the world in a different light than most people, because what he sees most in the world is light.

As a photographer, Walter has always been moved by the way light suffuses the objects that surround us; how, with each passing moment, it changes the appearance of the things we see each and every day and bestows ever-changing emotions onto the objects it touches.

His approach to photography is simple. He takes photos of what moves him, focusing on the details that add texture to our lives. In doing so, he captures moods, tells stories, and memorializes the moments when light and matter conspire to create beauty (...and/or irony and humor, for that matter).

About our Greeting Card Line:

As you peruse our greeting card categories on this site, you may notice that our cards range in subject matter and voice from mischievous and irreverent to highly passionate, sentimental, and even awe inspired.

The reason for this is simple. We think the greeting cards that you send to your loved ones at various moments in your life should reflect the moments that actually make up your life.

And since we see life as a wonderful whirlwind of moments ranging in emotional intensity from ridiculous to reverential, we've created greeting card choices to reflect that range.

Simply put: Our greeting cards are designed to celebrate the everyday moments that make up that thing we call life.

About our Philosophy:

With all its ups and downs, life, in our opinion, is about the human connections we make during our short tenure on this planet.

And we think it's often the ephemeral exchanges we make through those connections that not only keep us alive, but also define our relationships and the richness of our lives.

Sending a greeting card to a friend or loved one may seem like a small gesture, but it's one that carries with it a deeper, unspoken message. A message that is, perhaps, best articulated by songwriters Bob Thiele, George David Weiss, and George Douglas in the song "What a Wonderful World," immortalized by the great Louis Armstrong:

''I see friends shaking hands, saying, 'How do you do?'''
''They're really saying, 'I love you.'''

We hope our greeting cards will provide inspiration for the kind of gestures that make the world a better place to live.

About Time:

We're occasionally asked why we decided to get into the greeting cards business.

You know that feeling you get when you're standing in front of a display rack of hundreds of greeting cards and you can't find a single card you'd feel comfortable signing your name to, without 1) adding a disclaimer releasing you from any and all association with its lame message or 2) making an excuse about how you're intentionally sending the dumbest card you could find just to be funny?

That's why.
